About

Gerry Hanratty

I'm a senior product manager based in Dalkey, Co. Dublin. Most of my career has been spent in places where the constraints are real: regulated energy retail, B2B2C fintech, and early-stage companies where the next three months decide everything.

At SSE Airtricity I owned online sales and payments, growing the digital channel several times over while cutting the cost of collecting money. Then I co-founded Yety, a travel-payments business that reached €500k ARR with a small team — which taught me more about pricing, distribution and saying no than any role since.

These days I work on a project basis. Sometimes that's a founder who needs a product lead one day a week; sometimes it's a team between hires who need someone to hold the line on prioritisation until the permanent person arrives.

AI tooling is now genuinely part of how I work rather than a novelty. I use Claude Code to read unfamiliar codebases and to draft the unglamorous artefacts, and Lovable to get something clickable in front of people before anyone writes a spec. The Claude Rundowns on this site are what I've learned doing that in real engagements.

I like working close to the team, in your tools, on your cadence. I'd rather be in the standup than sending a deck. And I'd rather tell you early that a piece of work isn't worth doing than deliver it well.
