Instalment payments for travel agents
Co-founded and scaled a B2B2C fintech to €500k ARR.
Context
Independent travel agents were losing bookings because customers could not pay a large deposit up front. Placeholder copy — replace with the real narrative.
The problem
Agents had no way to offer instalments without carrying the credit risk themselves, and existing consumer finance products were built for retail checkouts, not for a booking taken over the phone.
What I did
- Ran twenty discovery interviews with agents before writing a line of spec.
- Shaped an MVP around a payment link an agent could send mid-conversation.
- Worked directly with the underwriting partner on eligibility rules and messaging.
- Built the agent-facing dashboard as the wedge product, then layered lending on top.
Outcome
Reached €500k ARR with a small team, with the majority of volume coming from repeat agents rather than new logos.
What I'd do differently
We priced the product for adoption rather than margin for far too long, and unwinding that later cost us a quarter.
